Carlos Takam sends warning to Oleksandr Usyk ahead of September clash
Even though Anthony Joshua victim Carlos Takam has been made to wait for a fight against possible futur Anthony Joshua opponent Oleksandr Usyk till September this year, from his interviews it is pretty clear that the boxer is really keen on giving the Ukrainian a rude introduction to the heavyweight category.
The former world title challenger, Takam was scheduled to go up against pound for pound star Usyk in May this year, at the MGM National Harbor, Maryland, however, the latter had to withdraw owing to a torn right bicep. He suffered the injury at training camp and now the fight will need to be rearranged with mutual consent, sometime in September this year.
The news has left Takam disheartened as he had been really looking forward to step into the ring against the Ukrainian, and is yet to receive any confirmation regarding the details of re-scheduled contest. Talking to the press, Takam said, “I am going to fight Usyk again in September. But I still don’t know whether that’s going to be in Maryland or the UK or somewhere else.” He emphasised that not only will he win that fight, but will go all out to knock Oleksandr Usyk out.
He further stated, “I’m not going to wait, I think I’m going to have one more before the fight with Usyk in September. I can take everybody. I don’t care. I am ready for anyone. I wish that he (Usyk) recovers well because I am waiting for that match and I know I am going to win. I’m going to knock him out.”

More on Takam and the fight
Born in December 1980, Carlos Takam is of Cameroonian-French origin who has had a total of 42 fights till date, out of which he has won 36 and lost 5. 28 of these wins were through knockouts and 1 fight didn’t have any result. He’s been involved in some very good fights with world-class boxers such as Joseph Parker, Anthony Joshua, Dereck Chisora, Alexander Povetkin and more.
Carlos is of the opinion that even though Usyk is very quick, he hasn’t taken a punch from a heavyweight boxer before, and this might prove to be his downfall.
The fight will prove to be a very interesting one despite the fact that Usyk is the favourite going into it. The questions Takam is asking are asked to any cruiserweight whenever he moves up to the heavyweight category. We’ll need to wait to see if Usyk can really do what David Haye and Evander Holyfield managed to do. Or Takam will end up reviving his career scoring a big win!
