Daniel Mendes vs Nick Parpa confirmed
Southern Area Cruiserweight Champion Daniel Mendes (9-1), 33 from London, looks to cement his position as a fighter aiming for bigger titles when he makes a voluntary defence of his Area crown against Palmers Green's "Nightmare" Nick Parpa (8-1) at the Steve Goodwin promoted "FISTS OF FURY" card on 6th July 2019 at the York Hall.
Birmingham-born Mendes put in a highly impressive performance to win the title against Danny Couzens (10-11-2) in March 2019 where he only dropped one round in a conclusive 99-91 victory.
"I did not want a soft defence," asserted Daniel. "My manager told me that Nick was asking for the fight and I was prepared to oblige."
The 6ft 2" southpaw has one solitary loss on his ledger when campaigning away from home in Macedonia, losing on a split decision from the away corner to Charilaos Malichoudis (1-2) in just his third pro contest.
His nonet of wins have all come within the hallowed walls of the York Hall, which is his
For Parpa, this is his first attempt at a title. He boasts a record of 8-1 with his only loss being against Vasil Ducar (1-0) in his fifth fight, a hard-hitting Czech Republic boxer with six KOs from seven wins, who is now the current WBF Inter-Continental Cruiserweight champion and competes for the IBO world cruiserweight title in June this year.
"I was on top against Ducar until I walked onto a shot [right hook] and look at what he has achieved since." Also heavy-handed, Parpa has stopped five of his octet of victims inside the distance.
However, this mouthwatering bout is not simply a boxer v puncher contest; it is a fight that will shape the career of both men with the winner going on to fight at an even higher level for more illustrious honours.
The undercard features nine unbeaten prospects, plus three exciting debutants making their pro bow.
