JE Boxing is the only professional boxing platform in Kent, owned by Joe ‘The Moroccan Machine’ Elfidh.
As a fighter, Joe was a two-weight Central Area title contender, defeated a future England champion, and shared the ring with British, Commonwealth and World champions.
As a promoter, he is single-handedly bringing big-time boxing back to The Garden of England and his hometown of Worksop.
Welcome to his weekly column exclusive to BBN.
Martin Hillman v Jamie Speight
Southern Area featherweight title
May 27th at Mote Park, Maidstone
I’ve secured Martin Hillman (9-3) a Southern Area featherweight title fight against former champion Jamie Speight (14-11) on May 27th at Mote Park, Maidstone.
Jamie has asked for this fight for a long time and now he’s got what he wanted.
It’s at 50-50 fight, in my view, so the fans will be in for a treat!
Martin is going to be training hard for this, he’s so professional and dedicated, he’s focused and knows what he wants, so he will be in the best condition for this one.
Last time, he fought Boy Jones Jr. for the super-featherweight version and he did really well against him but we now know he’s not a 130lbs fighter. He’s best suited to 126lbs, I think he can even make super-bantamweight level.
Jamie is from Devon but fights regularly at the York Hall in London. He got stopped by Josh Kennedy midway through the third round of their fight last December and lost this very same title so he’ll be up for getting his belt back.
Kennedy is now the English champion at super-bantamweight so that’s the reason the title is now vacant for Hillman and Speight to contest for.
It’ll be a great for the Maidstone show as it’s evenly-matched, hard to call, and something for Hillman’s fans to get really excited about.
That’s two JE Promotions boxers fighting for Area titles in the coming months…
Richard Thomas v Daniel Slaney
Central Area light-heavyweight title
June 10th at Doncaster Dome
I’m a man of my word and I promised both Martin Hillman and Richard Thomas that I would get them each an Area title fight and I have delivered.
My unbeaten middleweight Grant Dennis won his Area title in his seventh fight and I believe that Richard could go one better and win one in his sixth fight.
Me and Dan Slaney grew up in the same village together in Harworth and Bircotes and Richard lives in village next door called Tickhill.
So, it’s very much a local affair and I expect it’ll be a 50-50 fight, but I do know that Thomas really wants this and will throw everything at him on fight night.
The Central Area fight will take place on a Stefy Bull Promotions show on June 10th at Doncaster Dome.
Everyone wants a piece of Dave Jones!
My unbeaten heavyweight charge Dave Jones seems to be getting called out by everyone lately!
Tom Little called him out straight after beating my other heavyweight Tom Dallas last February. Then, we got offered a fight from Francis Warren against a German fella called Mohamed Soltby who's unbeaten in 13 fights, and also Neil Bowers from Matchroom offered us Dave 'White Rhino' Allen on a Sky Sports show!
The thing is, is that Dave is still a novice pro in the boxing world. He’s only recently come back from injury so the offers are not right for him at this time.
He’ll be back out on my Maidstone show at the end of May, which will be almost a full year since he fought last when he beat Jiri Svacini (12-20) for the International Challenge Belt.
He will shake off the ring rust, get back to fighting again and then I’ll look to get hom out regularly again now that he’s injury-free.
Away days
This Saturday my super-featherweight prospect Tom McGinley (2-1) from Essex is out next on Mickey Helliet’s show at the York Hall against Jules Phillips (1-4).
I’m going to give him a few more learning fights at four-rounds and then gradually step him up.
He’s someone who can go places but it’s all about choosing the right fights and moving on at the right times.
